TogaBerry and myself had a very exciting bank holiday weekend! Writing todays blog is the first time I’ve been able to sit down and relax, between photographing and editing I’ve also been car hunting so it has been a non stop week for me so far!

Last Friday the postman made my morning as I was anticipating the arrival of Victoria Brant’s new book ‘How to get your leg over’ which is part of her Diary of A Wimpy Eventer blog that I have been following. It arrived in a bright pink jiffy bag and some love heart sweets were also in my packet which lasted all of the first page (I love them sweets!).

As you can see TogaBerry has already pinched my copy of the book! When you start the book you are first presented with a glossary of key terms mentioned throughout the book, this has actually turned out to be one of my favourite parts because it is full of humour and makes you realise you’re not alone in some of the things that you think, there’s actually a lot of people that are the same! This book is definitely one that’s appreciated by a wide variety of horse lovers not just those who compete in eventing, it is full of humour and detail that you begin to feel like you know the author as if you have been friends for years! As well as the great stories and photos, the book is full of beautiful illustrations by Bonny Snowdon. This really is a must read, with some adult humour it is perfect for a night in with a glass of wine and some chocolate! Order yours now at www.wimpyeventer.com

On Saturday Togaberry enjoyed watching my brand ambassador Brooke Howley and her gelding Blue learn the gorgeous discipline, side saddle. I have always admired riders of side saddle, it really is a beautiful style of riding to watch and photograph. I was thrilled to be invited over to Writtle where Suzanne Evans hosts side saddle clinics. Saturdays clinic instructor was Clare Simper, she competes side saddle as well as teaches it.

I learnt so much just watching and talking to the ladies. Brooke and Blue both thoroughly enjoyed themselves just like me and TogaBerry. You would never have thought it was their first time as Blue took to it straight away and as for Brooke I can never fault her riding! There are more clinics currently being organised so keep an eye out on Facebook as I highly recommend Clare and it is such a great opportunity. Saddles are supplied and I am hoping to attend some future dates so lots of photo opportunities for you all!

Finally to end our weekend, TogaBerry joined me to photograph the unaffiliated dressage at Whitehall Farm EC on Sunday. This venue is situated in Fobbing and is one of the nicest venues I get to photograph at. It is so well run with such a friendly atmosphere and your surrounded by people who are more than happy to help you as well as great food!

I was so happy that there was such a good turnout to support this great venue. It was lovely to see familiar faces that I had photographed last year so I was able to witness how much they have improved in a short amount of time.

TogaBerry will be attending dressage at Shopland Hall this Friday with me as well as dressage on Sunday at Hastingwood so please come over and say hello and you can also have a photo with TogaBerry and be in with a chance of being featured in our next blog!
